Journal on Design

As designers we think in shape, form, color, depth and perspective. We thrive on what we can see and words are almost always an afterthought. Yet what we have to say – our ability to communicate our experience of the world with clarity – is at the essence of what makes or breaks design.

What story is your object telling? Who is your object telling its story to? Why does your object tell its particular story? How did your object come to tell this story? These are some of the first questions we explore when working seriously on a project. They are the foundation, the roots from which your design will grow. At Jean-Pierre Designs we believe that if you haven't taken the time to write about a project that you are conceiving, then you are not prepared to design it yet.

The Design&Beauty Blog celebrates the written word of design. From thoughts and scribbles and charts, to strategic brainstorming, to critical essays and reflections, this is where design is born.
